Jaime Suarez is one of the most important living contemporary artists in Latin America. Suarez is an acclaimed sculptor –ceramicist, visual and public artist. Among his public art commission for Europe, the USA and the Caribbean is the iconic totem specifically designed for the Quincentennial Plaza in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. His work is in important museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, El Museo del Barrio, Ceramic Museum in Ichon, Korea, Instituto Michoacano de Cultura in Mexico, the Ceramic Collection in Croatia, Museo de Arte Moderno in Colombia, National Museum of Ceramics in Greece, the Wardsworth Atheneum in Connecticut, and the Archer Huntington Gallery, the University of Texas at Austin. Suares holds degree in Architecture from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and Columbia University in New York City.
